· More cover craziness comes from two cool new tribute CDs released in the past few weeks. Radiohead gets the trip-hop treatment in BBE/Rapster Records' terrific Exit Music: Songs with Radio Heads, with 10 re-grooved reinterpretations of songs including "No Surprises" and "High & Dry" executed in the funky headspace of Rjd2, The Bad Plus, Sa-Ra & the Sa-Ra All Stars, and The Randy Watson Experience.
· Reignition Records plunges back into the pit with its new expanded CD reissue of Black on Black: A Tribute to Black Flag, taking the 2003 original release on Initial Records and pumping it up with six new interpretations from Most Precious Blood, Bleeding Through, Black Dahlia Murder, Remembering Never, Drowningman, and Zao.
· Strolling down memory lane to the golden age of rock radio on the FM dial, weekend nights often meant a killer live concert from the vaults of the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Next week Sony/BMG's Legacy Records imprint is debuting a new King Biscuit series with five CDs remastered from those original recordings. First up are Humble Pie from 1973, the Steve Miller Band from 1976, Pat Benatar from 1981, Ringo Starr & his All-Starr Band from 2001, and Teddy Pendergrass from 2002.
· A new DVD due next week raises money for the Red Hot + Blue foundation, funding AIDS research and relief. Collecting videos from the Red Hot + Blue: A Tribute to Cole Porter sessions, the Shout Factory Records project also features a remastered edition of the CD, with music by U2, Sinead O'Connor, Tom Waits, the Neville Brothers, and more. With bonus footage of Annie Lennox with Herbie Hancock from the 1995 VH1 Honors awards, the list of directors behind the videos includes David Byrne, Jim Jarmusch, Neil Jordan, Wim Wenders, and Jonathan Demme.
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno hosts David Gilmour on Thursday evening; Late Night with Conan O'Brien boasts Ric Ocasek on Thursday overnight, Neil Young on Friday overnight, and Secret Machines on Tuesday overnight; The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson presents The New Cars on Friday overnight and The Wiggles on Monday overnight; Jimmy Kimmel Live features The Dresden Dolls this evening overnight and LL Cool J on Tuesday overnight; and Last Call with Carson Daly opens the door to The Cloud Room on Tuesday overnight.
