DES MOINES, IOWA (December 10, 2020) — There may be as many scams involving Amazon as there are products on Amazon.

Scammers see an opportunity as more people shop online, particularly during the pandemic. The Iowa Attorney General’s Office is urging consumers to be vigilant if they receive unsolicited calls or e-mails referring to purchases, deliveries, gift cards, or other issues involving Amazon or other retailers.

DES MOINES, IOWA (December 9, 2020) — Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller is helping lead a bipartisan coalition of 48 attorneys-general in suing Facebook Inc, alleging that the company illegally stifles competition to protect its monopoly power.

DES MOINES, IOWA (November 18, 2020) — Attorney General Tom Miller, along with a coalition of more than 30 other attorneys-general, announced a $113 million settlement with Apple Inc regarding its 2016 decision to throttle consumers’ iPhone speeds to address unexpected shutdowns in some iPhones.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 22, 2020) — A Scott County judge has ordered a Quad Cities-based telemarketing operation to pay a judgment of more than $820,000 for defrauding small-business owners in at least 13 states.

District Judge Mark Fowler found in the ruling that Misty Barnes, Paul Michael Barnes, and their businesses had committed 19 violations of the Iowa Consumer Fraud Act.

DES MOINES, IOWA (October 8, 2020) — Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller joined 27 other attorneys-general to obtain a $5-million judgment against Tennessee-based CHS/Community Health Systems, Inc., and its subsidiary, CHSPSC LLC. This judgment resolves an investigation of a data breach that affected approximately 6.1 million patients, including 7,002 Iowans.
